Quest Academy Scholastic Bowl Team wins state championship
The Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Scholastic Bowl State Finals were held at the Peoria Civic Center, Friday, May 3. A total of 16 teams competed in Peoria--eight teams in Class A and eight teams in Class AA.
All teams participating played three rounds in their respective pools. Quest Academy was victorious in sweeping all matches and are the 2013 State Champions!
Quest Academy is in the Class A division and they have advanced to state level three years in a row; 2012 4th place, and 2011 State Champions. The 2013 state championship results: Match 1: 295-205, Match 2: 260-145, Match 3: 305-110, Championship Match: 305-175.
Our Scholastic Bowl team was undefeated in all Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) regular season 16-0, Regional 3-0, Sectional 3-0, and State contests 4-0 for a cumulative record of 26-0. All 5th through 8th grade students on the team played and contributed to supporting the team during all levels of competition.
Team members include; Jack B. (co-captain), Ben B., Jacob F., Marc F., Atharv G., Colin G. (co-captain), Sonya G., Jacob L., Alex L. (co-captain), Max L., Eli M., Vikram M., Arjun N., Vikas R., and Joel R.. The team has been coached by Ms. Lisa Groh, with assistance from former State Championship team members Selena Groh '11, and Amanda Fiddler '12.
Scholastic Bowl toss-up and bonus questions subjects include; Science, Literature, Spelling, Grammar, Math, Social Studies, Geography, Music, Drama, Art, Movies, TV, Pop Culture, Technology, Library Science, Sports, Home Economics, Civics, and Current Events.
