By Daily Herald report

The week of May 13 to 19 has been proclaimed Bike to Work Week in Schaumburg. And at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 17, Mayor Al Larson will be leading a ride to his own workplace -- village hall.

The route will begin at the Meineke Recreation Facility's bike path at 220 E. Weathersfield Way. From there, participants will ride with the mayor to Beech Drive, east on Beech to Abrahamsen Park, through the park to Summit, and north on Summit to the bike path entrance to the municipal center grounds.

Bike to Work Week focuses attention on cycling as a viable alternative and, in the process, encourages people to reduce automobile usage.
