Competition is good. It spotlights our shortcomings and forces us to improve. Unlike your April 20 Soapbox commentary, I welcome the Texas governor coming here to point out that the business climate in Texas is better than in Illinois. His message spotlights the shortcomings of Illinois government officials who have created a fiscal mess in this state and created a climate unfriendly to business. Hopefully his visit will force our government officials to improve, something that we need desperately here in Illinois.
If Illinois government cannot compete with Texas government, then it is time for the leaders in Springfield to either figure out how to compete or make room for new leaders who can.
