A Thursday morning fire shut down a nail salon in Schaumburg.
Fire officials said no one was hurt and only $3,000 in damage was estimated at the salon, located at 815 W. Higgins Road.
The incident is still under investigation, but firefighters say it was likely caused by a nail dryer system that either shorted out or was left on and forgotten about.
Someone at a neighboring business who smelled smoke and noticed that the salon's windows were stained called in the fire at 7:45 a.m.
By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had burned itself out.
