‘CHiPs’ star talks online safety in Indiana return

MUNCIE, Ind. — Actor Erik Estrada has returned to the Indiana city where he starred in a short-lived police reality series as he travels the country promoting ways to protect children from online predators.

The star from the 1970s TV police series “CHiPs” visited a Muncie church Thursday night to present his film “Finding Faith” depicting frightening situations between teenage girls and people they meet over the Internet.

The Star Press reports Estrada told the crowd of nearly 500 people that children needed to be taught about potential online dangers.

Estrada filmed “Armed & Famous” for CBS in Muncie in the winter of 2006-07. He has since returned several times to the city.

Estrada was scheduled to present the film Friday night at another Muncie church.
