The American Cancer Society is urgently looking for more volunteer drivers -- in all of our Chicagoland offices. Volunteers drive cancer patients to/from treatments for the Road to Recovery program. This service is available for patients when no other form of transportation is available. These rides are provided at no charge and based on volunteer availability. This is a very flexible volunteer role because you set your schedule and provide assistance when you are available.
• Driver’s License required
• Must be at least 21
• Orientation or Training is offered
• No weekends...
• Current auto insurance card required
The Society has offices in Oak Brook Terrace, Batavia, Tinley Park, Rockford, Arlington Heights, Lincolnshire and Chicago. We also have offices throughout the state that need drivers. In 2012, in DuPage County alone, volunteers provided 4,887 free rides to cancer patients to and from their life saving treatments and appointments.
Those who are interested in volunteering, or are a cancer patient in need of rides to treatment, can call American Cancer Society toll free at 800-227-2345 and they will be directed to their nearest office.
About the American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society is a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers saving lives and fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. As the largest voluntary health organization, the Society's efforts have contributed to a 20 percent decline in cancer death rates in the U.S. since 1991, and a 50 percent drop in smoking rates. Thanks in part to our progress nearly 14 million Americans who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will celebrate more birthdays this year. As we mark our 100th birthday in 2013, we're determined to finish the fight against cancer. We're finding cures as the nation’s largest private, not-for-profit investor in cancer research, ensuring people facing cancer have the help they need and continuing the fight for access to quality health care, lifesaving screenings, clean air, and more. For more information, to get help, or to join the fight, call us anytime, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
