text size: AAA

An Arlington Heights man was sentenced to 30 years in prison Wednesday in exchange for pleading guilty to sexually assaulting two girls over about five years beginning when they were 11 and 13.

Cook County Judge Ellen Mandletort sentenced Danny Sims, 44, to 15 years in prison on one count of criminal sexual assault and 12 years on a second count of criminal sexual assault. She also sentenced him to three years in prison on a sexual abuse charge. Mandletort ordered the sentences be served consecutively. She also ordered that upon his release, he register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Sims had faced dozens of counts of criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse. Prosecutors dismissed the remaining charges in exchange for Sims' guilty plea. He received credit for the 522 days he has been in custody since his arrest in November 2011.
