Gasbarro throws 1-hitter for Glenbard South

Glenbard South 5, Riverside-Brookfield 0:

Ethan Gasbarro pitched a 1-hitter with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks to get the Raiders (13-3, 9-1) off to a great start in their key Metro Suburban Conference series. Gasbarro also went 2-for-3 to join 2-hit performances by Carl Sanders, Zach Smith and Alex McGimpsey.

Wheaton Academy 7, Aurora Christian 2:

On a night at Carol Stream's Lee Pfund Stadium devoted to raising funds and awareness for Haitian orphans, the Warriors (2-13, 1-10) claimed their first Suburban Christian Conference victory of the season. Winning pitcher Jake Cousins, who struck out 10 in 6 innings of work, went 2-for-4 along with Sam Perna and Chris Johnson.

Montini 11, Marmion 1:

The Broncos (14-3, 11-2) surged to the Suburban Christian Conference victory despite trailing 1-0 until they scored twice in the top of the third inning. Montini added 5 runs in the fourth and 4 runs in the fifth to end the game early. Winning pitcher Ben Dobosenski doubled.

St. Francis 4, Marian Central 1:

The Spartans (11-7, 8-3) tallied 3 crucial insurance runs in the top of the seventh as they swept the Hurricanes in the Suburban Christian Conference. Complete-game winning pitcher Jason Sullivan allowed 5 hits while striking out five, walking none and allowing only 1 earned run. Jack Petrando, Andrew Brundage and Chris Smith all had 2 hits.

Lisle 10, Seneca 1:

Cliff Krause went 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI, and Kevin Coppin also had 2 hits for the Lions (12-6, 9-2), who swept in the Interstate Eight Conference. Winning pitcher Kyle Van Volkenburg struck out 11 in 6 innings.

Naperville North 14, West Chicago 5:

Carson Brown and Alex Garon went 3-for-4 for the Huskies (10-7, 6-5) in their DuPage Valley Conference victory. Dan Riley had 3 RBI. Ian Gustafson was the complete-game winning pitcher. Antonio Solis and Kyle Nielson had 2 hits apiece for West Chicago (3-15, 0-10).

Addison Trail 18, Proviso West 8:

Nick Rybarczyk and Rocco Costabile, who had 3 hits, each drove in 3 runs in the West Suburban crossover win for the Blazers (8-13). A 5-run top of the fourth inning helped end the game in the fifth inning for winning pitcher Frank Amato and Joe Amato, who got the save.

York 8, Rolling Meadows 7:

Josh Paparone's RBI double in the bottom of the fourth proved to be the game-winning run for the Dukes (11-11) in their nonconference victory. Jake Dvorak and Nico Sanchez homered. Adam Gomez was the winning pitcher.

South Elgin 8, Neuqua Valley 1:

Matt Wollnik, Cody Coll and Matt Butler each had 2 hits for the Wildcats (14-8, 11-5) in their Upstate Eight Conference loss.

Bartlett 15, Waubonsie Valley 6:

The Warriors (10-7, 8-4) stayed within 5-4 until Bartlett exploded for 6 runs in the fourth inning of the Upstate Eight Conference matchup. Tyler Hasper and Jake Bennema each went 1-for-2 with a home run and 2 RBI.
