Elgin area retired educators are invited to hear IEA Retired President Janet Kilgus with information on matters of concern to retired teachers, school service personnel or administrators. The meeting will be held at the Hickory Stick Bar and Grill at the Highlands of Elgin on Tuesday, May 7. Refreshments and a social time will begin at 4:30 PM. The program will begin at 5 PM.

The General Assembly of the State of Illinois continues to seek a legislative solution to the ‘pension crisis' in the state and often is producing plans that severely compromise the constitutional guarantees of Teachers Retirement System and other education pensioners. In addition, amendments to the multi-tiered pension plan for future retirees continues to erode incentives to recruiting and retaining persons interested in public education careers. These and other issues were a part of the discussions of the state-wide IEA retired meeting recently conducted. Janet Kilgus, the IEA Retired president, will offer perspectives on the pension issues and other matters of concern to nearly and newly as well as ‘experienced' retired educators.

That is why those nearing retirement, those in the “class of 2013” retirees and those who are currently retired are urged to attend. The program is presented by the Northern Kane County Retired Educators (IEA/NEA)

Newly, nearly and currently retired educators should contact NKCRE President Brian Moobery, or NKCRE Secretary, Larry Drafall at 847-695-5112, or email - drafiles@sbcglobal.net. Reservations should be made before May 3, 2013.
