Local high schools ranked:


Several area schools have made the U.S. News & World Report 2013 list of best high schools. Illinois rankings of top high schools included: Deerfield (5); Adlai E. Stevenson in Lincolnshire (6); Highland Park (7); Prospect in Mount Prospect (9); John Hersey in Arlington Heights (10); Lake Forest (17); Vernon Hills (19) and Libertyville (20). The magazine collected data on more than 21,000 high schools. The rankings included reviews of test scores, state assessments and college-level coursework.
