Go fly a kite May 5 at Schaumburg Park District

Bock Neighborhood Center and Park, 1223 W. Sharon Lane, will host the annual Flying 4 Kids event, a statewide kite fly for all ages, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, May 5. Flying 4 Kids is held to raise awareness for the Park District Youth License Plate program which raises funds for youth after school programming at Illinois park districts.

“Flying 4 Kids gives families an opportunity to get outdoors and support their local park district,” said Special Events supervisor George Grey. “Families are encouraged to stop by Bock Park and picnic during the kite fly.”

Participants can bring their own kite or build one with a kite making kit. Participants must bring a picnic lunch.

Preregistration for this program is highly recommended. Registration is available at parkfun.com and park district registration facilities. Cost is $5 for resident children and $7 for nonresident children. Each paid registrant will receive a kite kit to design and build a kite.
