An eight-hour drive and a scrimmage later, Harper College all-N4C and all-Region second team selection Connor Miklasz has has found a new basketball home.
When the scrimmage was over, the coaching staff at NCAA Divison II Lake Superior State in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., was impressed enough to offer the two year Hawks starter and Hersey High School product a scholarship.
“They needed a point guard,” said Harper men’s basketball coach Tony Amarino. “We sent (highlight) tape everywhere.”
As sophomore at Harper, Miklasz averaged 11.2 points and 6.8 assists.
The Lakers are members of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athaletic Conference. Lake State, as it is commonly known, finished last season 16-13. Miklasz will be the only player on the roster who hails from Illinois.
LSSU was looking for a guard with experience, and Miklasz fit the criteria. Amarino anticipates Miklasz will be a starter for his final two seasons of elegibility, especially since he received a full scholarship.Copyright © 2013 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
