Wausau man held in dismemberment slaying

WAUSAU, Wis. — A central Wisconsin man is being held on $1 million bond in the slaying and dismemberment of a Minnesota man.

A criminal complaint says Kou Thao fatally shot 58-year-old Tong Pao Hang, of St. Paul, in the basement of a Wausau home, wrapped his body in a tarp, loaded it in a car and drove to Milwaukee April 17.

The complaint says investigators learned Thao had connections in Milwaukee. Officers went to a house in Milwaukee the following day and found Thao’s car. Authorities say when they knocked on the door Thao fled and was later arrested. Detectives searched the house and found body parts, a knife and a tarp.

The Wausau Daily Herald (http://wdhne.ws/12EGESI ) says officials haven’t commented on a possible motive in the slaying. A preliminary hearing is scheduled May 1.
