Palatine duo no-hits Vernon Hills
Palatine senior Nick Refka and teammate Alex Piszczek, a junior, teamed up for a no-hitter on Saturday at Vernon Hills.
The Pirates’ duo helped lead the visitors to a 5-2 win.
Jarrod Juskiewicz had the game’s only extra base hit with a double.
Wheeling 12, Northridge Prep 0 (5 inn.): Brenden Spillane doubled with the bases loaded and had 4 RBI for host Wheeling.
Keith Cichowitz went 2-for-2 and scored 3 runs with an RBI while Josh Kim was 2-for-2 with 2 runs.
Angelo DeBlasio earned the win.
Barrington 5, New Trier 4 (8 inn.): Macray Poidomani was 3-for-4 and had the game-winning RBI with a single in the bottom of the eighth inning for host Barrington (7-7).
Ryan Lidge led off the Broncos’ eighth with a double and pinch runner Chris Coco advanced to third on a bunt by Scott Nelson before Poidomani’s game-winner.
Nelson was also the winning pitcher.
Stevenson 8, Rolling Meadows 4: The visiting Mustangs scored their 4 runs in the top of the seventh after trailing 8-0.
Mickey Wazorick and Dan Hendricks had doubles for Meadows.
Christian Liberty splits: The Chargers dropped a 6-3 decision to Alden-Hebron in Game 1 before coming back to win the nightcap 4-3.
Dan Glad tripled for the Chargers in the first game.
In Game 2, CLA scored 3 runs in the top of seventh to earn the win. Aaron Cunningham had a double for CLA while Glad notched the win.
