Morton Arboretum to stay closed this weekend

The Morton Arboretum will remain closed to the public this weekend due to extensive flooding, officials said.

All events including the Arbor Day 10K and EcoFest scheduled for Sunday are canceled, as well as all Saturday and Sunday classes, Scout programs and children’s garden birthday parties.

Officials will release rescheduling details early next week.

The arboretum has been closed since Thursday when the East Branch of the DuPage River, which runs through the arboretum grounds, rose 10 feet above its pre-storm level — two feet higher than the record, according to a news release.
