The Fox River near Algonquin was at 12.36 feet on Saturday morning, which continues to cause flooding in Algonquin, according to Michael Kumbera, assistant to the Algonquin village manager. The river crest is projected to rise on Sunday to about 12.8 feet, down slightly from earlier projections.
Alongquin has notified residents in the floodplain and encouraged them to sandbag around their property. Sandbags are available at Hubbard Street and Oceola Drive; Rattray Drive and Beach Drive; Rattray Drive and Filip Road; Center Street and Willow Street; La Fox River Drive at Cornish Park; and Riverfront Park.
Localized flooding continues on streets adjacent to the Fox River. Cornish Park remains closed. Motorists should avoid the area surrounding downtown Algonquin due to road closures from flooding.
Also, refuse containers will be placed in neighborhoods adjacent to the Fox River on Monday for disposal of damaged/flooded items for local residents.
