Des Plaines River level falling slowly in Lincolnshire

The Des Plaines River in Lincolnshire was at 16.15 feet on Saturday and was expected to recede to 15.9 feet by Sunday, said town officials and the National Weather Service.

Road closures in Lincolnshire include Lincolnshire Drive, which may reopen Monday evening; Londonderry Lane, which may reopen late Monday or early Tuesday; Oxford Road, which could reopen later Saturday; and portions of Wiltshire Drive, Cumberland Drive and Marriott Drive.

Public works crews produced sandbags at 205 Schelter Road. While the river has crested, moderate to major flood levels are expected to continue along the Des Plaines River through the weekend. Additional sandbags will aid in any future needs if weather conditions change, officials said.

Village staff will monitor the river’s level and meet with other local government agencies, including Lake County and the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District. Cleanup will begin once the river recedes enough to eliminate the possibility of any more damage. The village will update affected residents and businesses on recovery resources as information becomes available and plans are finalized, officials said.

Waste Management will conduct a cleanup on Saturday, April 27. All goods must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. the day of the collection. Residents may begin placing materials at the curb at 7 p.m. the night before. These items will not be accepted: appliances, household chemical waste and landscape waste.
