  • Water receding lines can be seen on the road in front of Garrett Dennison's house on Lincoln St. near the intersection with Fox River Ave. in the Valley View neighborhood of St. Charles on Saturday, April 20. His home has been safe from the waters, as the first floor is at the top of the stairs. Dennison has lived here since 1980, growing up in the neighborhood, and wasn't phased by the event. He and other friends who still live in the neighborhood have seen flooding several times over the years and are very calm about it and know what to do when it happens. He said people in eight homes and in two small apartment buildings a few blocks away were evacuated a few days ago and everyone is ok.
