Ill. veterans learn about starting a business

By

CHICAGO -- More than 200 veterans are getting help from the state of Illinois in starting or growing their own business.

The Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs and the Department of Central Management Services held a program Friday on entrepreneurship. It was part of an initiative aimed at helping returning service members and veteran-owned businesses.

Erica Borggren is director of the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs. She says entrepreneurship is a great way for veterans to translate their military leadership experience into success in the civilian world.

The event included sessions for veterans just getting started with a business concept and help for existing business owners who want to grow their startup company.
