With many Wheaton roads closed due to flooding, and the DuPage County Government Center shut down, city officials are warning motorists not to drive through flooded areas.
Emergency and public works crews are out in the community addressing traffic and flooding. The city already has received more than 300 calls and is addressing them, officials said.
Sandbags are available at the city's public works facility, 821 W. Liberty Drive, at the west Liberty entrance.
To document the effects of intense rainfall in Wheaton, the city is seeking photographs from residents.
Anyone with photos that show flooding in their area or other area, is encouraged to email to email@example.com, post them on Twitter using #wheatonflood, or mail them to City of Wheaton, Attn: Stormwater Engineer, 303 W. Wesley St., Wheaton, IL 60187.
In the correspondence, include the approximate time and location the photo was taken.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
