Buffalo Grove crews battle rising waters

Buffalo Grove public works crews are out in force today clearing inlets in an effort to mitigate small pockets of flooding throughout the village, officials said.

The village’s storm system and waterways are taking on water faster than it can be discharged, leading several roads to experience localized flooding, according to the village. Officials urge residents to stay away from standing water, detention basins, manholes, and to avoid passing through streets that are flooded.

Anyone with a concern about a flooded area can report the problem to public works at (847) 459-2545. Public works has sand bags available for residents. Interested residents can pick up sand bags at the entrance of the Public Service Center, 51 Raupp Blvd.

Though there was a significant power outage impacting the village overnight, 99 percent of customers in Buffalo Grove are restored, officials said.
