All roads were reopened in Rolling Meadows early this afternoon.
“Once the rain let up, the sewer system was able to recover,” said Public Works Director Fred Vogt. He said some residents have reported flooding, and added that sandbags are available at the city’s Public Works facility, 3900 Berdnick St.
Vogt said Salt Creek is still over its banks, but was slowly dropping. The gauge at Campbell Street read 7 feet at its highest point, but by early afternoon the creek had receded to 6.5 feet. Vogt said that even before Thursday’s storm the creek was higher than usual because of recent rain.
Rolling Meadows also loaned some equipment to Prospect Heights to assist in their flood cleanup.Copyright © 2013 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
