Mt. Prospect OKs ownership change for Blues Bar

By Steve Zalusky

Mount Prospect village trustees this week authorized a change in the Blus Bar's liquor license to reflect new ownership for the downtown bar, eatery and music venue.

According to a village memo, Kimberly Oztekin, wife of Blues Bar owner Errol Oztekin, will "purchase the goodwill of the business and operate it under the ownership of BB BBQ Grill."

The memo continues, "Ms. Oztekin indicates there will be no changes made to the existing restaurant or menu. Hours of operation will also remain the same."

Following the village board meeting Tuesday, Trustee Arlene Juracek, who takes over as mayor next month, said that the change is less one of new ownership so much as a reorganization.

"This is just a reorganization under bankruptcy," she said. "I want to be clear that it was a personal bankruptcy, not a Blues Bar bankruptcy. The Blues Bar is doing fine."
