A banner opportunity for local artists

By Melissa Silverberg

Arlington Heights is looking for local artists to enter its Artist Street Banner program for the opportunity to have their work displayed throughout the village.

The village's Arts Commission will select a number of winners to have their art reproduced on street banners in downtown Arlington Heights. The theme of the program this year is "Show the colors of Fall," according to village officials.

Preliminary artwork must be sent in by May 15. The Art Review Committee will review the work and application information to determine if the banner artwork meets the theme and guidelines. Materials deemed as promoting products or companies will be rejected.

Winning artwork will be printed on banners and displayed from Aug. 1 through Oct. 31.

Aspiring artists can fill out an application online.
