Gangnam Symphony Orchestra to Play at Wheeling High School

The Wheeling High School Fine Arts Department will host a concert performed by the renowned Gangnam Symphony Orchestra from Seoul, Korea, on Wednesday, May 1, at 7 p.m.

According to Wheeling's Director of Bands, Brian Logan, "One-third of the members of this talented orchestra graduated from Julliard and the rest graduated from major music conservatories all over the world. In Korea, their concerts sell out and patrons pay well over $100 a person. Throughout most of their United States tour, tickets will cost $100—in fact, their Skokie concert tickets will be $200 each. Here at Wheeling High School, admission will be only $10!" The mayor of Gangnam is also expected to attend.

The program for the evening will include: Core 'ngrato by Cardillo; Le Carnaval Romain by Berlioz; "Glitter and be Gay" from the musical, Candide by Bernstein; "Brindish" from Verdi's opera, La Traviata; andSymphony No.9, E minor, Op.95 , "The New World" by Dvorák.
