Barrington keeps control in West
Barrington maintained the top position in the Mid-Suburban West girls water polo race with a 21-6 victory over host Hoffman Estates on Thursday.
Lisa Danhauer had 5 goals, Catherine Byron 4 and Kelly Meckert and Sam Gavars 3 apiece as Barrington improved to 15-1 overall and 7-0 in the division.
Maddie Burrell (5 saves) and Kayla Widdowson shared time in goal for the Fillies.
Buffalo Grove 5, Prospect 4: Sara Morosan scored a game-high 3 goals to help the host Bison earn an MSL East win. Callie Fasching and the BG defenders did not allow a goal in the second period.
Prospect (2-5, 3-7) got 2 goals from Kallie Shields, and BG (7-7, 3-4) got 1 apiece from Jessi Graziano and Bridget Whited.
Conant 5, Fremd 4: Angela Skittone’s 4-goal effort helped the host Cougars (5-11, 2-4) earn an MSL West victory.
Maddie Demaret stopped 25 shots for Conant, which held Fremd (11-6, 5-2) to 1 goal in the second half.
Wheeling 13, Rolling Meadows 0: Wheeling’s Kat Dobrowski scored 8 goals and Theresa Godlewski had 4 as the Wildcats drew closer to clinching an outright East Division championship.
Wheeling improved to 11-8 overall, and 7-0 in the division with three games left.
Palatine 14, Schaumburg 6: Junior Rachel Chumbook scored 8 goals and Caroline Wojtas had 4 as the visiting Pirates (12-7, 4-3) prevailed in an MSL West matchup to move into third place the divisional race.
