W. Ind. man who went fishing found dead in creek

VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — Western Indiana authorities are investigating the death of a Fountain County man whose body was found floating in a creek hours after he left for a fishing trip.

Conservation officers say the body 59-year-old Keith Summers of Covington was found Wednesday evening by his brother in Coal Creek near the town of Veedersburg about 65 miles northwest of Indianapolis.

Relatives said Summers went fishing Wednesday afternoon, but when he didn’t return home after several hours that saw heavy rain fall on the area his brother began searching for him.

His brother found his vehicle parked at Coal Creek covered bridge and then discovered his body floating in the creek about 100 yards downstream from the bridge.

Summers’ cause of death has not been determined pending autopsy results.
