More birthdays, cakes at Barrington Relay for Life

The American Cancer Society aims to give the world more birthdays to celebrate, so what could be more appropriate than aiming for the world record number of birthday cakes in one place at Barrington’s annual Relay For Life event Friday, June 7?

Cakes will be the major motif at “Celebrating More Birthdays — The Biggest Sleepover in Barrington” from 6 p.m. June 7 through 6 a.m. June 8 at the track and football stadium of Barrington High School, 616 W. Main St.

There also will be a cake decorating contest for both professionals and amateurs, judged by a panel of five celebrities. There will be a first-prize reward of $500.

Other competitions during the all-night event will include Barrington’s first Mr. Relay Contest, with the winner to be crowned by Miss Illinois Teen, and a Relay Project Runway.
