Police: Man in hard-hat robs Downers Grove bank

By Josh Stockinger

A man dressed like a construction worker robbed a Downers Grove bank Wednesday, police said.

The suspect was described as a white man, roughly 45 to 50 years old, standing about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a short white "5 o'clock shadow" beard.

He wore an orange construction helmet, an orange shirt, jeans and sunglasses, according to a news release.

The robbery happened around noon at Citibank, 5134 Main St. The suspect fled before officers arrived. No one was hurt.

Police said they were searching the area and working with the FBI in a joint investigation. Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has information about the case is asked to call 911.
