ECC Relay For Life kickoff April 13

Submitted by Elgin Community College

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Elgin Community College is hosting a kickoff at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Elgin Community College Alumni Room, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

The event will feature speakers from the community who have benefitted from the funds raised at Relay events and will honor cancer survivors, as well as offer an opportunity for attendees to learn more about Relay and register their teams.

As participants gather this year to register teams and launch fundraising efforts, they’ll be helping the Society redouble its efforts to make this cancer’s last century — not just for this Relay, but around the world.

As the world’s largest grass-roots fundraising program, the Relay For Life movement mobilizes friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools, service organizations and faith-based groups in communities throughout the country, to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and provide everyone an opportunity to fight back against the disease.

The American Cancer Society’s 100th birthday is a good time to get involved in the Relay For Life of Elgin Community College as a volunteer, team captain or participant and make a difference this century in the fight against cancer.

The 2013 Relay For Life of Elgin Community College will be held June 14-15.

For more information about the program, call the American Cancer Society at (630) 879-9009 or visit RelayForLife.org/eccil.
