Lake Special Olympic teams medal in Illinois tournament

Special Recreation Services of Northern Lake County and the Round Lake Area Park District are proud to announce that both the Jr. Superstars Basketball Team and Adult Superstars Basketball Team earned bronze medals in their respective divisions.

Both teams competed in the Special Olympics State Tournament held in Bloomington Normal the weekend of March 15-17.

Over 500 athletes from Illinois earned the right to compete in this year’s Special Olympics weekend.

Players range from 11-14 years of age for the Jr. Superstars Basketball Team. All 12 players are coached by Heather Cramer, Ryan Cramer and Jessica Goschy.

Players range from 17-51 years of age for the SRSNLC Superstars. All 15 players are coached by Lisa Deligio, Brittany Parsons and Justin Petrusaitis.

“It was great to see them compete and see all their hard work pay off,” said SRSNLC Program Manager Jessica Jeffery-Findley.
