5k, 10k, 1-mile Fun Run for All: Deer Dash

Spring is on its way soon; and, with the first Sunday in May comes Deer Dash in Deerfield –a 5k, 10k, and 1-mile fun run open to families or anyone 8 years and above. Deer Dash, set for Sunday, May 5th at Jaycee Park, is designed for both beginning and experienced runners, with enough to challenge competitors at all levels. The course is flat / residential. There are no age group awards; everyone who finishes is a winner. Times for Deer Dash are as follows: 6:30-7:00am - Check-in; 7:45am - Pre-race instructions; 8:00am - Race start. Jaycee Park is at 1026 Wilmot Road, in Deerfield, IL.

Advanced registration is suggested; visit: www.deerfieldparks.org/deer-dash/. The Activity # for Registration is #363301 (10k run is Section 01; 5k run is Section 02; and 1-mile Fun Run is Section 03). The fee, which includes a T-shirt, race packet & refreshments, before May 2nd is: $20 per Deerfield Park District resident and $25 per nonresident; Fees after May 2nd are $25/Res and $30/NR. Registrations will be accepted on race day if there is room. To sign up on race day, you must register by 7:30 AM.

Race Coordinator (and Deerfield Park District’s Coho Swim Club Coach) Jeff Napolski explains, “Deer Dash will helps you sharpen your competitive skills in running and get in shape for other area events. We warmly welcome your participation and hope you will make this event a must on your yearly athletic calendar.” Deer Dash is organized and run by the Coho Swim Club. For 2013, Peapod of Deerfield is a Multi-Venue Sponsor for Deer Dash.
