Five Naperville Youth Medal in Worldwide Karate Tournament

Ken Shin Kan of Illinois brought home 5 medals from two world class karate events held in Las Vegas Easter week-end. The USA Open and Junior International Cup hosted over 2300 unique competitors from 45 countries at the Paris Hotel, offering elite competition for youth of all ages.

On March 29-31, the school sent 5 competitors including two sets of siblings to participate in the tournaments. Raphael Guieb (12) and brother Ryan Guieb (8) took home Gold Medals in their respective Kumite divisions at the USA Open and each went on to garner Bronze Medals in the Junior International Cup. Sebastian Fernandez de la Reguera (15) secured a Gold Medal in Team Kumite at the USA Open while sister Sofia Fernandez de la Reguera (10) brought home a Bronze Medal from the Junior International Cup. Nolan O'Rear rounded out the competition by also securing a Gold Medal in Team Kumite at the USA Open.
