Wis. jailer arrested on tentative sex-abuse charge

REEDSBURG, Wis. — A Sauk County jailer has been arrested on tentative charges of child sexual abuse.

A Baraboo News Republic report says the man has a bond hearing Monday. He was arrested Thursday, and police are recommending a felony charge of repeated sexual assault of the same child.

Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister says the suspect has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

Few details were available Friday because charges hadn’t yet been filed.

The man has a history of domestic-violence and abuse allegations brought forth by multiple women. In one case he allegedly shook a woman by her hair and assaulted her, causing a number of bruises. But the Juneau County prosecutor at the time didn’t charge him, citing inconsistencies and a lack of witnesses.
