Grant wins twice at Wilmot

Grant sweeps: Grant got a pair of wins over Wilmot Saturday, 4-3 and 15-5. In the first game, winning pitcher Jeremy Cokefair improved to 2-0 on the mound be rolling up 7 strikeouts over 5 innings pitched. Tyler Gorski added 2 hits for the Bulldogs (6-2). In the second game, Ryan Noda went 3-for-3 with a triple while Jake Ring and Brent Spohr added 2 hits apiece. Ring had a double, drove in 4 runs and also stole 3 bases.

Libertyville 11, Hoffman Estates 1: Evan Skoug belted a home run and a triple to lead the Wildcats, who also got doubles out of Kevin Calamari and P.J. Neumann. Pitcher Jason Buss got the win.

Vernon Hills 8, Fenton 2: Pat Crowley earned his second win of the season by striking out 9 Fenton batters and allowing just 1 walk over six innings. Tyler Feece closed the game with a scoreless seventh inning. Dylan McNamara and Jake Boyer each had 2 hits for the Cougars while Jake Campbell added a double.

Wauconda 4, Wheeling 0: Brandon Gibis was tough on the mound for the Bulldogs. He struck out 10 Wheeling batters and allowed just 1 hit and 2 walks in six innings. Wauconda improves to 3-2 on the season.

Grayslake North 5, McHenry 1: Grayslake North was errorless and pitcher Adam Gomski got the win.

Lakes splits: After dropping an 8-5 decision to Waukegan in Game 1, Lakes rebounded for a 12-5 victory in the second game. The Eagles got a strong performance out of winning pitcher Kyle Vanderwall, who earned his first victory of the season. The Eagles also rolled up 9 hits.

Palatine 3, Antioch 2: Despite out-hitting Palatine 7-5, Antioch was dealt the loss. The Sequoits got 2 hits apiece out of Joshua Saldivar and Sam Smithson. Matt DeJong added a double.

Lake Zurich drops two: In a three-team triangular, Lake Zurich lost to Hampshire (8-2) and Notre Dame (3-2). Hampshire rolled up 10 hits to just 4 for Lake Zurich. In the Notre Dame game, Nick Jones put Lake Zurich on top early with a 2-run homer in the first inning. But that was all the offense the Bears (1-9 on the season) could muster.

Mundelein 1, Rockton Hononegah 0: Will Farmer hit a single to right field that brought in Logan Reckert for the only run of the game. Farmer went 3-for-3 on the day and Ryan Dolan added a double for the Mustangs, who improve to 11-0. Adam Turner got the win on the mound. He pitched 4 2/3 innings.
