CHICAGO -- A 64-year-old Chicago woman has been charged with murder in the slaying of her husband, who was gunned down last month as he waited for a ride to his dialysis treatment.
The victim's 19-year-old grandson is also charged with murder in the case.
A statement released Saturday by the police department's media office says the victim's wife, Janet Strickland, was charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery. A police spokesman said he had no details on her alleged role.
A bond hearing for her was scheduled for Saturday.
In the March 2 slaying, two men approached 72-year-old William Strickland outside his house in the South Side Roseland neighborhood as he was waiting for a ride to his dialysis treatment.
Police say he was shot in an apparent robbery.
