Bartlett Idol winners announced

On Saturday, March 16, over 40 competitors in five age divisions and one group division battled for the right to be called the next Bartlett Idol. The Oak Room at Bartlett Community Center was filled with hopefuls and their supporting fans.

With competition for the Tween divisions starting at 10 a.m., it was the perfect way to kick off St. Patty’s Day weekend. After about one hour of competition the winners were announced: 2013 Bartlett Idol Tween I: Emily Dziengel who sang “On My Own” and the 2013 Bartlett Idol Tween II: Vincenza Binetti who sang “When I’m Gone” while accompanying herself on the drum. Act II began at 1:30 p.m. with the teens and adults singing for their place in Bartlett history. Turning in a winning performance strumming on the guitar and singing “Somebody’s Baby,” Sam Witz was named 2013 Bartlett Idol Teen I. Alexis Traczyk stepped up with her song “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and was awarded 2013 Bartlett Idol Teen II. Wes Kochan performed “Land Down Under” which wowed the judges with his vocals and guitar playing and was awarded with the title of 2013 Bartlett Idol Adult II.

The competition came to an end with the new Group division and fierce competition. In the end mother and daughter duo, Jessy Zaguirre and Jillian Zaguirre. They were awarded the title of 2013 Bartlett Idol Group Division for their performance of “Gangnam Style.”

Thank you to all the competitors, volunteers, and audience members for making the 2013 Bartlett Idol event a wonderful way to celebrate and showcase the talent in Bartlett and support the arts.
