Minivan hits Crystal Lake home

A minivan crashed into a home Thursday morning in Crystal Lake, authorities said.

Crystal Lake fire and police departments responded about 9:25 a.m. to the accident at a home on the 1400 block of Tanglewood Drive.

Upon arrival, emergency crews found that a 2001 Mercedes-Benz minivan had crashed into a home’s garage, and the momentum carried the vehicle through the back wall of the garage, authorities said.

Fire personnel transported the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Lori Ruzbasan, 49, of Crystal Lake, to a hospital for evaluation and treatment, officials said.

The resident of the home was there when the crash occurred but was not injured. The residence was inspected by the Crystal Lake Building Department, and representatives from public utilities, and was deemed safe to occupy.

Crystal Lake police continue to investigate the cause. It is believed the driver may have experienced a medical condition that either caused or contributed to this crash, according to the Crystal Lake Police Department.

So far, no citations have been issued.
