‘Biggest Loser’ couple appears at College of Lake County

Jerry and Estella Hayes, a suburban Chicago couple who competed in season seven of the hit NBC TV show “The Biggest Loser,” will share their inspirational journey to wellness at 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, in the C Wing Auditorium, Room C005, the College of Lake County, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake. Jerry won the season seven “at home” $100,000 prize.

The event is being hosted by the CLC Wellness Club as part of its outreach to “inspire personal and community wellness,” as part of National Public Health Week.

The Hayeses were the oldest couple participating in season seven. Jerry weighed 369 lbs. when he started the show, was voted off during week two, but came back at the finale, weighing in at just 192 pounds. By losing 177 pounds and nearly 48 percent of his body weight, Jerry lost the highest percentage of weight loss, thus winning the “at-home” prize. Estella began the show at 242 pounds, left the first week and did not return until the finale. She lost a total of 83 pounds in less than eight months.

Advance tickets for CLC students and staff are $5; general public tickets are $10. Each ticket holder will receive a $5 Subway sandwich coupon. Tickets are sold at the Box Office in the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (847) 543-2300.
