Three Elmhurst men were arrested and charged with Internet crimes after police say they hacked various accounts and posted pictures of women without their consent.
Elmhurst police began an investigation last June after numerous female victims reported that multiple email and photo storage accounts were accessed without their permission and unauthorized pictures were then posted to a pornographic website, police said.
An investigation led to charges against three Elmhurst men: Andrew J. Kubicz, 20, of the 600 block of West Babcock, who was charged with five misdemeanor counts of harassment through electronic communications; Steven W. Jane, 23, of the 300 block of Yorkfield, who was charged with three counts of harassment through electronic communications; and Thomas J. Demars, 26, of the 100 block of Evergreen, who was charged with one count of harassment through electronic communications.
Additionally, a former Elmhurst man was also charged: Andrew J. Curran, 28, of the 2400 block of Gemini Road, Green Bay, Wis.
On March 20, Demars pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor computer tampering, Elmhurst police said in a release. Cases for Kubicz and Jane are pending.
Curran, a U.S. marine recruiter, was investigated by several agencies — including the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department.
Elmhurst police say he faces charges of two counts of felony identity theft, as well as five counts of unlawful possession of child pornography, which are pending in Brown County, Wisconsin.
