Cook County trout season opens April 6

Trout fishing season opens Saturday, April 6 in Cook County in three locations -- Axehead and Belleau Lakes in Des Plaines/Park Ridge and Sag Quarry-East in Lemont. From April 1-dawn on April 6, the three lakes will be closed to all fishing while about 3,000 pounds of catchable-sized rainbow trout are stocked. There is a five trout per day creel limit, no size restrictions; a limit of two lines per person and two hooks per line. Fishermen and women 16 and older must have valid Illinois sport fishing licenses with the Inland Trout Stamp.
