Cook County trout season opens April 6

Trout fishing season opens Saturday, April 6 in Cook County in three locations — Axehead and Belleau Lakes in Des Plaines/Park Ridge and Sag Quarry-East in Lemont. From April 1-dawn on April 6, the three lakes will be closed to all fishing while about 3,000 pounds of catchable-sized rainbow trout are stocked. There is a five trout per day creel limit, no size restrictions; a limit of two lines per person and two hooks per line. Fishermen and women 16 and older must have valid Illinois sport fishing licenses with the Inland Trout Stamp. The free Forest Preserve Fishing Guide lists all of the lakes and waters open to public fishing in Cook County, the location and depth of each lake, and principal fish species.
