Jacobs, Hampshire notch wins
Jacobs 10, Larkin 3: Butler recruit Alyssa Lach was 3-for-4 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI as Jacobs won its season opener. Sarah Murray was 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 3 stolen bases for the Golden Eagles, while Jacquelyn Hengler had a double. Kelsey Peters picked up the win, allowing 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and a walk in 4 scoreless innings. Alex Buhrow, Jaclyn Saurbaugh, Lexi Price and Alex Bednarski each had 2 hits for Larkin. Sarah Hansen was the losing pitcher.
Hampshire 6, Aurora CC 4: Jennifer Hurst was the winning pitcher and had a triple and an RBI as the Whip-Purs (1-1) won their first game for new coach Stacey Stepek. Callie Bicknese (RBI), Aly Snider (2-for-4) and Jordan Hook (2-for-4, RBI) also contributed for Hampshire, which scored all its runs in the final three innings.
