State grant goes to nursing assistant program

State officials have announced a $750,000 grant to help health care workers get job training.

The grant for New Start, Inc. will help form a training program for certified nursing assistants at the National Latino Education Institute in Chicago and a Springfield office of New Start, which is a nonprofit established in 1971 that helps with job training.

Gov. Pat Quinn and officials with the National Latino Education Institute announced the grant Wednesday at a news conference.

Quinn says the investment will insure that more people are able to get training in the critical field of health care.
