Daily Herald report

Gurnee Park District lifeguards have received the Ellis and Associates Platinum International Safety Award for 2012. Ellis is an international lifeguard training business. "We're honored to win this award again and know that it is only because of the hard work and dedication of our staff and the support of the community that we are able to achieve this," Superintendent of Recreation Scott Crowe said. As part of Ellis' comprehensive aquatic risk program, five unannounced audits are given to each client facility during the year to evaluate effectiveness of training, supervision and record-keeping as part of the process.
