Free Seminar to Provide Answers for Individuals Not Able to Pay IRS Income Tax Amount Due

With the April 15th tax deadline looming, many taxpayers may be facing the reality that they don't have the funds available to pay the IRS what they may owe. A local attorney is planning a series of free seminars to explain the importance of filing taxes on time and utilizing some of the payment options available from the IRS.

Timothy Hughes, a Partner at Lavelle Law, Ltd. in Palatine will be hosting one-hour seminars throughout April and into May to assist taxpayers who need guidance in working with the IRS on tax debts. The meetings have been scheduled for Tuesday April 2nd, 16th, 30th and May 7th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Hughes will welcome registrants to the Lavelle Law offices at 501 West Colfax in Palatine. “Not being able to meet your financial obligation to the IRS is not at all an unusual problem, and is one that can be handled through standard procedures,” said Hughes. “What is a problem is not filing the return by the deadline.”

In addition to being an attorney who is certified to practice before the U.S. Tax Court, Hughes has a CPA background and devotes much of his practice to taxation. “The seminars will allow people to learn about the various options that exist when there is a payment delinquency. Taxpayers can work out a variety of payment options if they can not make a full payment by the 15th, provided they file appropriately. It is when the person does not file on time that the IRS may take further punitive action.”

To register for any of the free seminars, interested individuals should contact Heather at 847-705-7555. For more information about the Tax Practice Group at Lavelle Law, Ltd, visit www.lavelletaxadvocates.com.
