If there's strength in numbers, offensive right tackle could be a solid position for the Bears in 2013.
They re-signed unrestricted free agent Jonathan Scott to a one-year contract Monday, creating a three-man battle for the starting job with J'Marcus Webb and Gabe Carimi.
The 6-foot-6, 318-pound Scott started six games for the Bears last season at right tackle, even though he wasn't signed until a day after the season opener.
Webb started 16 games last season at left tackle, but has been replaced by free agent Jermon Bushrod. Gabe Carimi, the Bears' 2011 first-round pick, started 14 games last season, including 11 at right tackle, but twice he played himself out of the job.
Scott has started 35 games while also playing for the Detroit Lions (2006-07), Buffalo Bills (2009) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2010-11) He was a fifth-round pick (141st overall) of the Lions in 2006.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
