Kovarik supports Gurnee business

Gurnee mayoral candidate Kirk Morris claims he wants to support the local business community, but his actions the last four years don't support the claim.

Morris has never attended any ground breakings, ribbon cuttings, or grand openings that occur frequently. These are symbolic events, but they mean so much to the local business community.

You will almost always see Mayor Kovarik, and Trustee Balmes and Ross at these events, because they genuinely care about the people who run Gurnee's businesses and want the business community to know they have the support of the Village.

Mr. Morris criticizes the village for supporting the "Gurnee's Got It" campaign. This is a minuscule part of the village's budget, yet it provides help for Gurnee's small businesses.

As residents of Gurnee we pay no property tax to the village and are dependent on sales and amusement taxes to support public safety and municipal services. We must do everything we can to support and help our business community thrive.

I like the way Mayor Kristina Kovarik markets and champions our community, and she has my vote on April 9th.
