District U-46 Presents Wisdom Family Foundation with Business Partner Award

Elgin, IL – At the March 20, 2013 Elgin Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Luncheon , School District U-46 Superintendent Dr. José Torres presented the Wisdom Family Foundation with the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce's School-Business Partner of the Year award for 2012-2013. School District U-46 serves over 40,000 children in grades preK-12. The District ranks as the second largest in Illinois with 40 elementary schools, 8 middle schools and 5 high schools.

“When we began our foundation in 2007, we were on a mission to give back to family and children within the greater Elgin area and a partnership with School District U-46 seemed like a logical fit,” said Kristi Wisdom, Wisdom Family Foundation board member. “We support the work Dr. Torres is doing to help prepare our young people for college. We have made donations toward the U-46 programs that motivate students who may not have initially considered higher education as an option.”

The Wisdom Family Foundation has made generous contributions to several U-46 programs including:

 Project Access which helps ensure homeless children can attend school.

 Scholarships to encourage students to pursue higher education.

 Superintendent's Scholarship which provides financial support for high school seniors who are the first in their families to attend college.

 South Elgin High School Booster Foundation's Stadium Fundraising Campaign.

“The Wisdom family has been a pillar in the Elgin community for decades and we are grateful to have the support of their business and its foundation,” said Dr. Torres. “It's the generosity of our business community that helps enrich so many of our programs.”

Established in 2007, The Wisdom Family Foundation seeks to assist in the substantial growth and overall well-being of children and families in the greater Elgin area by providing financial support.
