Air Force taps Cambium Networks for communications program

The U.S. Air Force has selected Rolling Meadows-based Cambium Network's point-to-point 45600 High Capacity Line-of-Sight radio for its Theater Deployable Communications program of record.

Supported by General Dynamics, the TDC PMO is an essential communications network that enables Air Force units to transmit information rapidly and securely via wireless, satellite or wireline systems. A central goal of the TDC program is to provide the latest commercial off the shelf technologies in cases that can be rapidly deployed anywhere in the world and tailored to meet specific military contingencies while reducing airlift and manpower requirements.

“Cambium's PTP 45600 is well established in DoD circles, having provided reliable communications for many situation-aware networks that protect the warfighter in theater,” said Dan Ayer, vice president, General Dynamics Information Technology. “The TDC PMO would only accept as its next RFK radio a device that was proved to be rugged and capable in the most extreme conditions.”

The PTP 45600 is designed to support the most stringent requirements possible and provides high connectivity and backhaul even in the most challenging high-interference and non-line-of-sight environments. As a formal program of record, TDC PMO required agency accreditations. The PTP 45600 is the only wireless backhaul that is UC-APL (JITC) certified and also met TDC PMO's requirement for J/F-12 certification and IPv6 support.
