Become the next master cake decorator!

Children ages 6 to 12 will have the opportunity to learn the delicious art of cake decorating and complete a spectacular dessert in Schaumburg Park District classes at Bock Neighborhood Center, 1223 W. Sharon Lane.

Participants will decorate a cupcake with gummy worms and Oreo dirt and make flowers out of fondant and gum paste from 10 a.m. to noon, April 13 in Gummy Worm Cupcakes. Spring Cakepops, set for 10 a.m. to noon, April 27, will allow children to decorate cakepops with sprinkles and pastel icing. Moms and children will team up to decorate a heart-shaped red velvet cake with cream cheese filling and buttercream icing from 10 a.m. to noon, May 11. Participants will learn the basketweave technique and shell border. The spring cake decorating classes will conclude with Bird’s Nest Cupcakes 10 a.m. to noon on May 18. Participants will make adorable cupcakes with robin eggs and colored coconut.

All supplies are included. Participants should bring a container to bring home tasty treats. Cake recipes and icing all contain gluten and may share equipment with peanuts, corn syrup and tree nuts.

Pre-registration is required. Registration is available at parkfun.com and District registration facilities. The cost per class is $21 for each resident and $31 for each non-resident. The cost for the Heart-Shaped Mother’s Day Cake class on May 11 is $21 per resident couple and $31 per non-resident couple.
